Storms thwart Portugal's bid to extend Algarve beach
Rough seas and stormy weather in Lagos have set back major plans to double the size of Praia Dona Ana, which regularly tops lists of the world’s best beaches.
The Portuguese authorities spent €1.8 million on the project to expand the beach area this summer; a major undertaking which saw the Algarve beach play host to heavy machinery for much of the tourist season.
