Polish 'walruses' take to the chilly waters
Brave Polish swimmers took to the waters as the 14th annual 'walrus' season was officially opened at Szeląg Mały lake in Stare Jabłonki, northern Poland on Sunday.
Around 250 water-lovers donned their swimming costumes for the event, with the oldest participant being 73. But this weekend's event could be seen as just the warm up for a world record attempt planned for 13 December; Polish winter bathers are aiming to amass the greatest number of people to enter chilly waters at the same time. The current record stands at 1799 people, and the rules state that the temperature must be lower than 10ºC. Read more: thenews.pl
