Polish concert hall shortlisted for top award

The new home of the Polish Philharmonic Orchestra has been shortlisted for the Mies Van der Rohe Award, a prestigious architectural prize. Construction on the new building began in Szczecin in April 2011 on the site of the old Konzerthaus, which was razed during WWII. The student centre of the London School of Economics and the Danish Maritime Museum are among the other finalists who are in the running for the €60,000 award. The winner will be announced on 8 May.
