An Inside Out ride has been announced for Disney as Pixar Pier opens in California
Guests at Disney’s California Adventure Park are in for a treat this summer with the long-awaited opening of Pixar Pier. Here, all things Pixar are being celebrated alongside the waterfront promenade and fans will be joyful at the announcement that Inside Out is joining the list of rides planned for 2019.
Inside Out Emotional Whirlwind is based on the movie that, upon its release in 2015, fast became one of Pixar’s most critically acclaimed and beloved movies. In it, a young girl named Riley learns to deal with her emotions - Fear, Anger, Disgust, Joy, and Sadness - and it won great acclaim for its moving and realistic portrayal of emotions and mental health.
The first peek at the concept art has been released and the colours of all the emotions are represented in the ride, where guests step into hot air balloons. Emotional Whirlwind will be part of the Inside Out neighborhood. Another area due for an expansion next year is the Toy Story Boardwalk, which will be home to Jessie’s Critter Carousel in 2019.
In the meantime, you can try the Incredible Park, featuring the brand new Incredicoaster, the Lamplight Lounge which celebrates all things storytelling and lots of Pixar-themed meals and treats. The new Pixar Pier takes inspiration from the Santa Cruz Beach Boardwalk. It replaces the old Paradise Pier but some elements of the old area are still intact, including Goofy’s Sky School and Ariel’s Undersea Adventure, which make up the renamed Paradise Gardens Park.
While fans will undoubtedly be excited for the Emotional Whirlwind, in the meantime you can satisfy your Inside Out craving - and your sweet tooth - at Bing Bong’s Sweet Stuff which opening a little later this summer. It features Riley's forgotten childhood toy from the movie and you can even try his ‘sweet candy tears’.
2018 as been designated by Disney Parks as the ‘Year of Pixar’ but there are undoubtedly plenty of new treats in the works for years to come for this new area. If you can’t make it to California, Shanghai Disney Resort already have have a Toy Story Land and Disney’s Hollywood Studios is also opening one on 30 June.
