Pirates rob media magnate in Papua New Guinea

An Australian media proprietor, Kerry Stokes, has had his luxury yacht, which was anchored near Madang in Papua New Guinea, robbed by armed thieves. The Australian and his family were not on board at the time. Items reportedly stolen included diving equipment and food. Madang province is becoming popular with divers but former Madang Governor and owner of the Madang Resort Hotel, Sir Peter Barter, told the media incidents like this can damage Papua New Guinea’s growing tourism industry.
