Peruvian girl makes ancient Andean language cool with Michael Jackson song

A Peruvian teenager's cover of Michael Jackson's hit song "The way you make me feel" has become a hit on YouTube. But it's not just any cover – 14-year-old Renata Flores' version of the song is in Quechua, the ancient language spoken by the Incas.

Though Quechua is still spoken by millions in the Andes of South America and is the second most spoken language in Peru, it only represents 13% of the total population of the country and is often looked down upon. Flores' use of the language in her video is a step towards changing those negative perceptions and has left her friends wanting to learn Quechua. Read more: bbc.com
