Perth to get its own crowdfunded city museum
A crowdfunded museum that chronicles Perth's history will open in the city next month on Grand Lane. The space will host exhibitions, a cinema and cafe.
It will also act as a digital archiving office and will house its own private collection. The venture needs a long-term funding source to realise its potential and secure its future beyond the end of 2016. The Chair Reece Harley is optimistic more people will donate to the museum once it opens. "We are putting a call out to the people of Perth to help us fund the museum, it's a museum for the people, by the people," Mr Harley said. The museum's permanent collection will showcase the history of Perth from Aboriginal history to colonial, convict, gold rush and through to modern day.
