Beautiful images show the partial lunar eclipse from different locations around the world
With just under two weeks to go until the much-anticipated total solar eclipse, this week, select countries in the eastern hemisphere were treated to the sight of a partial lunar eclipse, which saw the moon turning a hue of warm red and being blocked by the Earth’s umbral shadow.
As with any lunar eclipse, the event happened during a full moon, when it was positioned opposite the sun in the Earth’s sky.
A selection of beautiful images of the event has now been shared, showing the occurrence as seen from places such as Germany, India, France, Russia, Turkey and Kuwait. The photographs offer a glimpse at life in each location, set against the full moon. In Van, Turkey, a boy leads a camel across a dark plain, while in Istanbul a couple hold hands on a restaurant terrace and gaze at the moon.
