To mark the 800th anniversary of the birth of King Louis IX, the stained-glass windows of the Sainte-Chapelle in Paris have undergone a painstaking restoration and are now back on display. King Louis IX commissioned the chapel to be built in the mid-13th century. Restoration of the windows began in 2008, which has involved cleaning off centuries of dirt from the stained-glass.
