Paris mayor to turn Seine’s Right Bank into pedestrian zone

In the latest efforts to curb traffic and pollution issues, Anne Hidalgo the mayor of Paris has her sights set on turning the Right Bank of the Seine into the next pedestrian zone in the city. The plan is to ban automobiles from part of a Unesco World Heritage Site - the Georges-Pompidou highway on the river’s right bank - after the yearly Paris Plage festival in 2016, which sees the bank turned into a temporary beach for summer.
