Panic buttons in DC cabs delayed until next year

After a number of safety concerns in Washington, DC cabs,  the city’s Taxicab Commission Chairman Ron Linton announced a plan to install panic buttons in 2014. But this month, after a cab passenger was allegedly assaulted during a ride, a spokesperson for the Taxicab Commission said the upgrades have been pushed back to 2015. But the panic buttons are not just for riders; cab drivers themselves have been the victims of assaults, and one was murdered in 2013. The safety features come alongside a number of modernizations of DC cabs. Read more:
