Pacific Asia Travel Association recommends visa-free travel for Nepal

As part of its tourism recovery report for Nepal, the Pacific Asia Travel Association (PATA) has recommended relaxing the visa requirements for foreign travellers to encourage tourists to return following April’s earthquakes. Proposals include allowing visa free travel or waiving visa fees to boost visitor numbers and permitting free multiple entries via India and China to reduce the perception that Nepal is isolated from surrounding countries. The Nepali government has yet to respond to the proposals, but it is likely to give the proposals serious consideration as tourism to Nepal has plummeted by more than 90% since the disaster.
