Old Faithful gets eco-friendly path of old tyres

Yellowstone National Park has installed a new walkway around Old Faithful that uses an environmentally safe material made from recycled tyres.

The material, called Flex-Pave, provides a more durable alternative to asphalt. The park hopes it will resist erosion and preserve groundwater flow. A center of geologic processes, Yellowstone experiences frequent temperature fluctuation and seismic activity, and park officials expect the new material to help protect the fragile ecosystem and require low maintenance. Many of the tyres used in the new material came from recycled tyres of Yellowstone’s own fleet of park vehicles. Read more: travelpulse.com
