NYPD ramps up security at New York marathon

The world’s largest marathon event will take place on Sunday, when around 50,000 plucky runners set off on the New York City marathon. New York police commissioner, Bill Bratton, has announced that extra security measures will be put in place for the run after recent events such as the shooting in Ottawa and a terrorist hatchet attack in Queens. Bratton has said there will be 4000 police on the ground, four ‘blimp’ airships and 20 boats patrolling the water. Read more: nydailynews.com
