No new tolls for the Golden Gate Bridge

Good news if you’re one of the millions who like to enjoy the views from the Golden Gate Bridge on foot or by bike – California’s governor, Jerry Brown, has decided against introducing tolls on the world famous icon.

The ban on tolls extends to other state bridges and will be in force for the next five years. Pedestrians and cyclist are generally separated when they get to the bridge: the former get the sidewalk on the city-facing side; those on bikes take a route on the ocean-facing side. Drivers of cars and other vehicles coming into San Francisco are not so lucky – they’re charged a variable toll, starting at $7.25. Read more: mercurynews.com
