No alcohol required in Manhattan's new tea bar

‘Alcohol is so 2014,’ says the sign outside Kavasutra, a new bar in New York’s East Village that serves kava juice and tea, and no alcohol.The bar is the first in New York to serve Kava juice products.

The plant is native to the South Pacific and is known for its calming properties. ‘I feel chill,’ said one consumer in the dimly lit bar. Kava products are banned in Canada, and in several countries in Europe and Asia due to the pressure on the liver of processing the juice. However it is still legal in the US and kava bars can be found in Florida, California, Hawaii and Denver. Read more: nydailynews.com
