Nike to pay damages for dressing Churchill statue

Sportswear giant Nike dressed a Winston Churchill statue in a basketball shirt in Paris and have now been ordered to pay £48,000 in damages to the sculptor.

The sculptor, Jean Cardot, sued Nike over the incident, which occurred in 2011 and the court ruled that the ten foot bronze Churchill statue had been defiled as it was used for commercial purposes. Read more:
