New Zealand flag shortlist: panel chooses final four

A panel has whittled New Zealand flag redesigns down to a shortlist of four possible options.

The original longlist was selected from nearly 10,300 crowd-sourced submissions uploaded to a government website. The public will rank the final four in order of preference in a binding postal referendum later this year. Finally a referendum, which will be held in March 2016, will ask New Zealanders if they want to keep the current flag or change to the new design favourite.
