New survey reveals Bulgaria is the EU’s most unhappy country

According to a recently released EU-wide poll on life satisfaction, Bulgarian citizens are the most unhappy in the European Union. Its GDP is the lowest of all member states, the average annual wage is also the lowest (1949 euros according to 2013 data), while the unemployment rate is 10.8 percent. Bulgaria joined the EU in 2007, and in the last few years there have been civil protests in the country calling for more accountability and transparency in government. Read more:
