New Seattle co-op brewery is first for state

Flying Bike Brewery in Seattle might seem like just another brewery in a region known for its beer, but it’s trying something a little different.

Flying Bike is Washington State’s first cooperative brewery. Instead of being controlled by a handful of investors or brew masters, Flying Bike Brewery is owned and operated by its members. Each member of the co-op spends $150 to join, earning them voting rights on everything from beer recipes to how the brewery is decorated. Members also receive dividends based on company profits.
