New roller coaster in Ohio will dive into record books - 10 times over
Thrill-seekers can look forward to a sensational challenge as a new roller coaster is set to be unveiled next summer which will claim 10 world records in one as it becomes, among other things, the world’s fastest, longest and tallest dive coaster.
The ‘Valravn’ will be located in Cedar Point Theme Park, Sandusky, Ohio and its 68 metre tall construction will hit speeds of over 120 kilometres per hour on its one kilometre plus route.
Gizmag reports that the dive coaster – which is a roller coaster with at least one vertical drop – will have the most inversions on a dive by including three such manoeuvres.
It will also have the highest inversion on a dive coaster at (50 m) and the longest drop on a dive coaster at 65 metres.
Cedar Point says that when new ride comes into being, it will also contribute to a number of records away from the dive coaster category. Chief among them is that it will now have most roller coasters taller than 61 metres in the one amusement park.
The ride itself will have three 24-passenger floorless trains, with riders sitting eight abreast.
The park has already begun its advertising campaign for the coaster and have begun taking orders for the ride although it will not be completed until next year.
