New Orleans to decide on public smoking ban

New Orleans City Council will be casting their vote on Thursday to decide whether to ban smoking in public places and businesses in the Crescent City. Currently, while outlawed in restaurants, it is still possible to light up in bars and bar areas of restaurants as well as other businesses such as casinos, stadiums and bingo parlors. Those in favor of the ban have argued that it is necessary as a safeguard for the health of workers, while many business owners have come forward to criticize the plan saying it will drive away customers.
