New Orleans calls last orders on smoking in bars

As of midnight on Wednesday it will no longer be legal to smoke in the bars, restaurants and casinos of New Orleans. The New Orleans city council passed the bill to a unanimous vote in January, despite arguments that the smokey nature of the bars in New Orleans was part of the city’s charm and a draw for visitors. The new rules are being put in place to safeguard the health of waitstaff, barkeeps and other service industry personnel across the Big Easy. Read more:
