Nepal disaster toll rises:100 trekkers missing in Upper Dolpo

The death toll from the deadly snowstorms that hit the Annapurna region of Nepal on Tuesday has risen to 29, with many more still unaccounted for. In a new development, 100 trekkers are now missing in the remote Upper Dolpo region, hundreds of kilometres west of Annapurna National Park. The rescue effort is currently focused on the Annapurna region, where emergency workers rescued 40 trekkers from the Thorung La, the highest point of the Annapurna Circuit trek. Some of the bodies of the deceased have been retrieved and rescued travellers are being transported to hospitals in Kathmandu. Read more:
