Nepal-China border crossing at Rasuwagadhi reopens

The border crossing between Nepal and Tibet at Rasuwagadhi has reopened, five months after the devastating earthquakes in April and May.

Immediately north of Kathmandu, Rasuwagadhi was a minor crossing point before the disaster, but both China and Nepal are prioritising trade via this border post until the main border crossing at Tatopani-Kasa (Kodari) can be restored to full service. The two mountain highways linking Nepal and China pass through areas that were severely damaged by the earthquakes and are highly prone to landslides, which has delayed reconstruction efforts.
