Neo-pagan temple to be built in Reykjavík

Iceland’s Ásatrú Association is constructing a temple in Öskjuhlíð, a forested hill in Reykjavík that also features the Perlan centre and is a popular spot for tourists and locals. The building, which will hold 250 people and will be constructed around the path of the sun, with sacred numbers woven into its design, is expected to be completed in the summer of 2016. The faith is rooted in Icelandic folklore, and incorporates both the Norse gods and a belief in spirits related to nature. The association say the temple will be the first of its kind in a thousand years. Read more:
