National Geographic to film documentary on Nicaragua's Masaya lava lake
The National Geographic Society recently asked permission from the Nicaraguan government to access the lava lake of the country’s Masaya volcano with plans to shoot a documentary.
The volcano has been in the news often lately, as it has become notably more active starting last December, emitting ash and experiencing increasied seismic activity. The team will consist of several scientists and filmmakers who will be partnering with the Nicaraguan Institute for Territorial Studies to explore the depths of the volcano.
