Mystery fire damages house in Barbados at world's oldest rum distillery

On Sunday night, a fire extensively damaged the Mount Gay Great House, an essential structure at the Mount Gay Distillery Complex in St. Lucy, Barbados.

Firefighters contained the blaze, but authorities are still unsure of the fire’s cause at this time. Mount Gay Distillery, home to the world’s oldest rum brand, is a popular tourist destination, and a number of tours are available at both the Bridgetown visitor’s center as well as the refinery in St. Lucy, where the estate was originally purchased in 1663.
