Mt Athos gets its own smartphone visitor app

Mt Athos, Greece’s semi-autonomous monastic republic, now has its own smartphone app, available in the App Store for iOS and Google Play for Android. The app, produced by a Thessaloniki company, is free of charge, and the data was provided by the fathers of the Pantocrator Monastery. It includes practical information about the monasteries as well as cultural and religious information. Mt Athos receives around 300,000 visitors each year (but women are not allowed to visit).
