Snowdonia, the Highlands and Stonehenge provide some of the most spectacular views in the UK
Anyone who has travelled around the UK will know that incredible views abound – but a new survey has revealed that Snowdonia, the Scottish Highlands and Stonehenge are considered the best of the best by people around the UK.
More than 2500 respondents voted on what they felt were the most incredible views in the country. The study was commissioned for the launch of the new Samsung Galaxy S8 smartphone, which will be released in the UK on 28 April. The company is promoting the phone's “premium best-in-class camera”, and used it to create a series of photographs of the top spots.
The view that received the highest accolades was getting a glimpse of lake Llyn Llydaw from the summit of Snowdon, located within Wales’ Snowdonia National Park, which was created in 1951. When it comes to what was popular around the country, there were a few different factors that respondents found made for a “quintessentially British view”, with 42% saying it was rolling countryside, 21% saying rugged coastlines, and 20% saying country villages.
Since most smartphone users are quick to post their most beautiful images on Instagram, the survey also revealed that the top subject to make you friends jealous is a gorgeous view at 47%. To celebrate the best, Samsung commissioned a new photography project of the best views from Matthew Cattell – Britain’s current Landscape Photographer of the Year – shot entirely on a Galaxy S8.
