This ultra-functional bag has become the most funded travel bag ever on Kickstarter
A new bag that promises to transform our travel experiences, has become the most funded travel bag ever on the crowd-funding website Kickstarter. A total of 9067 backers pledged $1,725,336 to help bring the Nomatic Travel Bag to life, which is a testament to how fervently travellers want to find a bag that makes life on the move easier.
The Nomatic company is based in Salt Lake City, Utah. According to its co-founders, Jon Richards and Jacob Durham, the bag combines the best elements of a backpack, duffel bag and carry-on luggage to create “the world’s most functional travel bag.” They were only looking for $20,000 on Kickstarter, so were delighted at the massive level of support received.
The Nomatic Travel Bag has 20 features and is designed to address the issues that can irritate travellers. Among its multiple compartments is one for a water bottle, lined with waterproof material to keep other items dry in case of a leak.
As keeping clean and soiled garments separate is always a pain while travelling, a separate laundry bag is provided, designed to hang on a door knob. At the end of the trip, travellers can zip it up to fit in the main bag compartment to keep dirty clothes separate and more organised. A shoe compartment is also included.
For your electronics, an airport security-friendly padded and secure laptop pocket is provided, along with a padded tablet pocket inside the main compartment door. This has a Velcro-flap designed with a slot to allow charging on-the-go with a power bank.
A soft, fleece-lined valuables pocket is located on the top of the bag for storing a phone, sunglasses and other valuables. Security is also enhanced by a radio frequency identification pocket with a TSA-approved lock, which keeps items safe from RFID scanners and valuables safe from thieves.
The bag can be worn in a backpack or duffel bag position, as well as being carried by hand. If you're pressed for space, an innovative vacuum bag will allow you to pack more clothes in half the space. Bags are available for pre-sale on Indiegogo for $179, where the backing figure has risen to over USD 1.9 million.
