Moscow's Gulag History Museum expands to new building

The Gulag History Museum in Moscow, which first opened to the public in 2004, has reopened in a new building located near the city centre.

The first exhibition in the new, significantly larger premises opened on 30 October which is the Day of Remembrance of the Victims of Political Repression. It will last for a year and has been put together with the collaboration of 25 Russian museums and archives. The Gulag Museum’s capacity for research is also expanding, with a studio of visual anthropology already functioning and a bookstore and library opening soon. Read more:
