More than a dozen airports closed in Sumatra and Kalimantan
Up to 13 airports have been closed in the Indonesian provinces of Sumatra and Kalimantan due to thick haze caused by fires in both regions.
Planes have been grounded until the visibility, which dropped to 50 meters at Tjilik Riwut Airport in Palangkaraya, Central Kalimantan, improves. Haze-plagued Malaysia is due to begin cloud-seeding operations around Kuala Lumpur, as well as in Kuching in Sarawak state on Borneo island, as soon as weather conditions permit.
