Mont Blanc shrinking from adverse wind and snow
An expedition of surveyors discovered on Wednesday that Mont Blanc, France’s highest mountain – and the highest in Western Europe – is shrinking.
They calculated that the mountain had lost 1.3 metres with the new height being 4808.73 metres. France suffered a heatwave over this past summer but experts say the loss in height is not due to this but instead to the change in strength of winds as well as snowfall. Read more: thelocal.fr
