Cannes mayor asks celebrities to help after floods

After the famous French resort of Cannes was struck by floods in early October, the mayor of the community is to seek help from some of the town’s famous patrons.

The city on the French Rivera is best known for the annual Cannes Film Festival, which previews films from around the world and draws in numerous celebrities.

After it was hit with floods in early October, which killed more than 20 people, the mayor wants its famous fans to support its efforts to rebuild.

David Lisnard told a French newspaper that he would contact big patrons, such as Sharon Stone, to find ways to fund reconstruction.

According to france24.com, the mayor said 400 businesses were impacted with a total reconstruction bill of €50 million.
