Austria approves Marty McFly-style hoverboards on the street

On Tuesday, a day before the Back to the Future II plot date, the Austrian transport ministry approved the use of hoverboards on their streets.

The hoverboards, yet to become a reality, could be classified as ‘small off-road vehicles’ and could be permitted to be used in the same areas as skateboards. The transport ministry did add that further restrictions would need to be put in place for something similar to the Marty McFly Pit Bull model from the film, which is powered by rockets. The user would need a pilot’s licence or if they intend to use it on water they would need a nautical permit. Read more:
