Malta to celebrate annual Fireworks Festival

Malta’s 14th annual fireworks festival kicks off this Saturday, with a spectacular display in the picturesque fishing village of Marsaxlokk. The event will continue in the capital Valletta on Thursday 30 April and conclude on Sunday 2 May in the coastal town of Bugibba. The Maltese islands have a long history of fireworks shows, dating from the days of the Knights of St John, when explosives were set off to celebrate great victories in battle. The festival celebrates the anniversary of Malta’s accession to the European Union. Read more:
