Maldives’ capital to get second artificial beach
Male, the island capital of the Maldives, is to get a second manmade beach as part of a project to beautify the highly developed island.
Almost every square metre of space on the island is covered by houses or roads, and the island has a population density of more than 53,000 people per square kilometre, more than Delhi or Kolkata. The new beach on the western waterfront will feature a swimming area, a fishing pier, a waterfront park, cafés, a new waterfront residential complex and a fort; beach dive sites will be developed off shore.
