Malaysia Airlines downsizes fleet, slashes routes in major restructure

Malaysia’s national carrier will downsize its fleet and slash some international services in a restructuring programme designed to save it from bankruptcy. Approximately 20,000 Malaysia Airlines staff have been terminated as part of the restructure, 14,000 of whom have been offered employment with the new Malaysia Airlines Bhd group (MAS Bhd), set to begin operations in September.
