Sleep in a luxury Airstream trailer at a new glamping site near San Francisco
A new glamping site will bring travellers into California's incredible wilderness - and provide enough comfort to convince even people who hate camping to spend a night in the woods.
AutoCamp Russian River is 90 minutes away from San Francisco and features 24 luxury Airstream trailers and 10 luxury tents. The property is located near the Russian River and provides access to wooded walking paths and beaches. After a day out in nature, guests can retreat to rooms that feature custom art pieces and fancy bath products.
There’s even a “strikingly modern lounge and reception clubhouse”, which is designed as a community hub for folks staying in the glamping site. If that’s not enough, there are “curated artisanal food and drink offerings, including a Canteen stocked with local beer and wine selections”. Visitors also have access to bikes, outdoor games, tennis and more.
According to the hotel, the area is close in proximity to the Pacific Ocean and the Sonoma wine country. The area is frequently by “artists, creatives and outdoor enthusiasts, weekend homeowners and tourists” who come to enjoy the nature, beaches, food and wine. This is AutoCamp’s second location, as the first was opened in Santa Barbara in 2013. AutoCamp is an officially licensed partner of Airstream Inc., the classic trailer famous for is rounded shape and aluminium exterior.
The appeal of spending a night in a luxury trailer isn’t exclusive to California. A new boutique hotel/caravan park has opened in Australia as well, made up of six renovated 1970s Airstreams located on top of a car park in Melbourne. While the hotel is in an unusual location, the Airstreams actually offer a five-star experience – complete with a queen size bed, private bathroom, Wi-Fi, Netflix and a free mini-bar.
While Airstream trailers have been popular for decades, the company has just launched the brand new Airstream Basecamp, a smaller version of the classic, which are designed to cost less and be accessible to more people.
