Rainy day activity: make a glitter snowflake
We're starting to feel festive at Lonely Planet Kids! Create your very own white Christmas with our step-by-step guide to making a sparkling snowflake decoration. Follow the steps below, or download and print out the activity sheet.
You will need:
- A4 paper
- Glitter paint
Gather together your equipment!
Fold the A4 paper from the bottom left corner up to the top right leaving a rectangular gap along the right side.
Cut off this rectangle to make the paper square-shaped. Keep it folded diagonally.
Fold the bottom-right corner of the triangle across to the top left to make a tiny triangle stick out over this side.
Turn the whole shape over. Then fold what is now the bottom-right corner across to the top left so that the shape is now symmetrical.
Now fold the whole shape in half.
With a pencil, draw your snowflake shape onto the paper with the pattern shown here.
Ask an adult to help you with scissors. Then carefully cut around the shape.
Unfold the paper slowly to open your snowflake out!
Use glitter paint to make your snowflake sparkle! Repeat the steps to create more snowflakes for a snowy scene.
