See the world's longest glass bridge set to open soon in China
A new glass walkway bridge is set to open soon in China, giving travellers an amazing view of the scenery in Hunan Province – if they aren’t too terrified to enjoy it.
The Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Glass Bridge is located in Hunan Province, within the National Forest Park.
The bridge is designed by architect Haim Dotan and is 430 metres long, six metres wide and nearly 300 metres above the bottom of the canyon. The company says it will be the tallest and the longest glass pedestrian bridge not just in China, but worldwide. The bridge will be able to hold up to 800 people at a time and the architect has said that it will also function as a runway in fashion shows.
According to the Zhangjiajie Grand Canyon Tourism Management Company, the construction of the bridge is nearly complete, but the supporting facilities are still under construction.
While the official opening ceremony is likely slated for January 2017, the actual bridge may open this summer due to the level of interest from tourists. However, the swings and bungee jump will not be available until later.
