London skyline to get 263 new buildings up to 30-storeys high

Over 260 new buildings at least 20 storeys high – the height of the OXO Tower -  and some up to 30, are earmarked for erection in London, according to a new study.

Including building already approved, under review or actually being built, the number is 263 towers.

Many of the towers will be somewhere around 30 storeys — taller than the South Bank’s Shell Centre.

The increase shows a marked increase in buildings under construction, from 45 last year to 70 this year, according to two studies from New London Architecture and GL Hearn..

New buildings under construction in London include such towers as the 163-metre at Blackfriars (the Boomerang), Principal Place in Shoreditch and 52-54 Lime Street  (the Scalpel).

The Londonist reported that a proposed project for Greenwich involves a method of reflective surfaces which get rid of shadows.
