Local excitement as geyser in Rotorua erupts after 35 years

New Zealand’s Papakura Geyser, which has been dormant since 1979, suddenly erupted this week much to the excitement of locals.

Located at the Te Puia Te Whakarewarewa Thermal Valley in Rotorua, where there are hundreds of geothermal pools, the geyser caught the scientists by surprise when it started bubbling for 36 hours then shot water 4m into the air. Read more: nzherald.co.nz
