Love the happiest place on earth? You can now live at Disney World in Florida
Do you love Disney World so much, you wish you never had to leave? That dream could soon for a reality because a new development of private Disney homes are now available to purchase.
The Golden Oak community will be located just four miles from the Magic Kingdom and will have 290 homes over 980 acres of land, as well as parks, golf courses and restaurants. The development consists of four different neighbourhoods, each with varying themes and designs. Unfortunately, you won’t be living in colourful theme park decor but you can expect architecture inspired by the Mediterranean and Caribbean, although tasteful Disney decor can be organised.
Residents will also have access to a private clubhouse, as well as a concierge service, free Disney passes and transportation to the parks. They can also enjoy the amenities of the neighbouring Four Seasons Hotel, complete with a private entrance.
Living out that childhood dream comes at a cost though. The starting price for one of the custom-built homes is a not-so-magical US$2 million, as well as annual fees for maintenance and Club membership. There are also plans for even more luxurious mansions to be built in the future, which will set Disney super-fans back $5 million.
The Golden Oaks development is not the first time the Mouse has dipped his toes into the real estate market. Nearly 20 years ago they developed an entire town; Celebration, Florida, deemed as a “magical, American hometown” and connected to the Magic Kingdom by road. The houses - ranging from $200,000 to $900,000 - were so popular that Disney had to hold a lottery for the first lot of homes to be released on the market.
