Legendary New Orleans club bites the dust!
It was known as the ‘downtown club with uptown ideas’: Club Desire, the music hall where New Orleans greats such as Fats Domino, played is scheduled to be demolished. The building is located on Desire Street in the Ninth Ward of New Orleans and has been lying abandoned for many years; it is thought it was last used as a music venue in the 1970s. City officials say it is now at risk of falling down and has become a hazard for passers-by. The pink building was constructed in the 1940s and appears in Fats Domino’s autobiography as a place he used to play alongside other rhythm and blues icons from the era.
