Landslides near Pokhara as monsoon takes its toll
Landslides have killed at least 19 people in Kaski district near Pokhara, following heavy monsoon rains in Nepal.
Slips occur regularly in the mountains of Nepal during the monsoon months from June to September, but this year is likely to be particularly badly affected as land has been destabilised by the earthquakes in April and May. The latest landslide occurred close to Begnas Tal lake, a popular day-trip for travellers to Pokhara. Read more: ekantipur.com
