LA beaches closed because of contamination
Two Los Angeles beaches remain closed after around 200lbs (90 kilos) of condoms, tampons and syringes washed ashore and the water was found to have high levels of bacteria.
It’s thought that Dockweiler State Beach and El Segundo Beach, both just south of the airport, were contaminated after a pipeline flushed the waste into the sea following a massive storm last week. Efforts to clean up are still going on. Read more: nytimes.com
