Kiwi woman swims into the record books
It’s full of sharks, strong currents and changeable weather but the dangerous stretch of water between the Farallon Islands and the Golden Gate Bridge didn’t put off one swimmer.
New Zealander Kim Chambers became the first woman to swim the 30-mile distance, setting off in the dark on Friday night and taking almost 17 hours to complete the distance. The Kiwi almost lost a leg a few years ago and started swimming as part of her physiotherapy, leading to a series of swimming challenges including this latest one. Read more: theguardian.com
