Johannesburg to open a new holocaust and genocide museum
The Johannesburg Holocaust & Genocide Centre (JHGC) will open a new centre of learning and remembrance on Jan Smuts Avenue in early 2016.
The aim is to raise awareness of the evils of genocide, with exhibits focusing on the Holocaust and the 1994 genocide in Rwanda. The JHGC teaches the consequences of racism, prejudice, anti-Semitism, xenophobia, homophobia and the danger of indifference, apathy and silence. The centre will house the permanent exhibition along with workshop venues, space for public events and memorial garden. Read more: tourismupdate.co.za
